The Sea
Perhaps the time will come when I no longer smile like I this morning, or last week.
Or when you turn just so in bed, or on the street.
People drift apart, as they come together, only the going away is slower.
If it comes, that time of leaving, mabe the sea will say of us, they loved one Sunday.
The tide came in, and the tide went out.
I do love you, believe that.
And if I have ever been unfaithful, it is only with my friend, the sea.

Rod McKuen was my favorite poet when I was in college. . . when I was young and romantic!
*Goodbye*
it seems we met such a short time ago...
you looked at me needing me so
yet from your sadness our happiness grew
and i found that i needed you too.
i remember how we used to play
i recall those rainy days
the fires glow that kept us warm
and now i find were both alone
goodbye may seem forever
farewell is like the end
but in my hearts a memory
and there youll always be.
